General Information

VIETNAM

Vietnam is probably one of the most diverse and complex countries in Asia. Geographically it lies on the eastern cost of the Indochinese peninsula. It is bordered by China in the North, Laos and Kampuchea in the West, and looks out on the East Sea in the East and the South, so it is hardly surprising that the cultures of its neigbours have influenced the development of its own one.

Vietnam is divided into three regions that have distinct geographical and cultural differences: from dense jungles and mountainous retreats to vast plains of paddy-fields, untamed rivers to brilliant white sandy beaches and the warm clear ocean. The Vietnamese people describe their country as a bamboo shoulder pole slung with two baskets of rice - the fertile southern Mekong Delta and the northern Red River Delta. With 54 ethnic groups, most of whom live in remote areas and follow age-old customs, Vietnam offers unparalleled opportunities for cultural exploration.

The tropical climate offers a diversity of fruit, then gastronomy in Vietnam is truly a source of pride and wonder….
