  Successful 15th SEAADE Annual Meeting at Koh Samui, Thailand ( Sept 3-4, 2004)  
 

At the just concluded 15th SEAADE meeting, a few records were created. First close to 500 delegates and accompanying persons were at the meeting. They came from 22 countries. Second, besides the large number of papers presented, the SEAADE program had the most number of Deans attending the Deans Forum on Friday 3rd September starting at 2 pm and held at the Choeng Mon II room.
17 Dental Deans or their Representatives from countries such as Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia and Canada attended the meeting.

The sharing session was on the theme “Changes in Oral Health science Education”. A total of 7 Deans or representives presented their talk. They included Arturo De Leon (Philippines, Fatimah College) Rahimah Abdul Kadir (Malaysia, UM), Esmonde Corbet ( Hong Kong,HKU) , Virush Patanaporn ( Thailand, Chiang Mai)) , Jona de Goday ( Philippines, Centro Escolar), Niwat Juntavee
( Thailand, Khon Kean ) Keson Tan (Singapore, NUS).

Besides these presentations there was also exchange of views on matters related to SEAADE and the visitation program of SEAADE. A video presentation by Mahidol University (Thailand) was shown. The Dean of University Indonesia (Soekanto and Afi Sarsito) also added to the discussion.

The Dean of UBC Prof Edwin Yen spoke on some of the questions related to Quality Assurance.

This very successful format of the Deans forum will be the highlight of future SEAADE business meetings. The next meeting of SEAADE will be in Malaysia in the beautiful and historic town of Malaka, It is scheduled for Sept 1-4, 2005.
