SEAADE 13th Meeting in Hong Kong, September 18-19, 2002: Report and Photo

The 13th SEAADE annual meeting was held at the Prince Philip Dental Hospital on the 18th and 19th of September 2002. There were a record number of 270 delegates who registered for the meeting including those who attended the 17th IADR (SEA) meeting.
The pre-meeting events include Dental Deans forum held on the afternoon of 17th September at the Dental Hospital. They discussed issues related to Dental Education and Health issues. Earlier in the morning there was a closed door meeting relating to the visitation of dental schools in the region. This was attended by invited participants of member countries. The Hong Kong Dental School played host and also celebrated their 20th Anniversary celebrations during this period.
The Opening Ceremony was held on18th September and graced by the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong and the Chief Dental Officer of the Hong Kong Dental service. It was held at the Faculty Theater 1 of the dental school.
The session started with the main symposium:
"Influence of Globalization on Dental Education."
The following made presentations as keynote speakers and the session chair was Prof Toh Chooi Gait.

The Afternoon session started with a presentation by the University of Hong Kong Curriculum task force who shared their experiences on Dental PBL Course - Student Learning and Clinical Skill Development.
This was followed by 4 poster presentations.

There was a tour of the dental teaching facilities of the Hong Kong Dental School for interested delegates. This was fully attended to.
The SEAADE General meeting ended the day where a New SEAADE council for
year 2002 to 2004 was elected.

The official dinner was held on Thursday 19th September on board the Bauhinia cruise ship. It was a full program with food, fellowship, and get together and remaking friends. Official presentation certificates were made to the HK Local organizing committee headed by Dr Edward Lo as Chairman and Dr Leung Wai Keong as Hon Secretary. Appreciation plaques to outgoing council of SEAADE were also made. Altogether a grand finale to the meeting.
