Message from the President

To All Members and Friends of SEAADE

Thank you for visiting our website. 2005 has been an eventful year for us. We launched our SEAADE visitation program where we visited dental schools under a criteria established by our Visitation program committee. Two dental schools were assessed. They include a visit in July 2005 to the Centro Escolar Dental School of Dentistry in the Philippines and in November to the University of Indonesia, Jakarta. The 2 visitation was a success. The reports of the visits are available at our website.

The annual meeting held on Sept 1-4, Malacca, Malaysia in conjunction with IADR (SEA) division was also very exciting and successful. The number of delegates attending exceeded 300.

The last few years has seen a steady increase in the number of Institutional Members in to our organization. At the recent meeting, we had a roll count of 26 Institutional members.

For the coming years we are embarking on strengthening the organization with 1) New revamped website, and 2) the introduction of a Student Preventive Dentistry Competition. This will be opened to all dental schools in this region. We are very honored and grateful to GC Asia Dental Pte Ltd for sponsoring this program. I know that this competition will be useful in strengthening the research interest of Dental students particularly in the area of preventive dentistry in this region.

The coming SEAADE 17th Annual meeting will be held from September 13-16, 2006 in Jakarta Indonesia. A big interesting meeting is promised by the Local Organizing Committee, headed by Dr Afi Sarsito and her Team.

I welcome you to take part in this meeting. For the Deans of Dental Schools a very interesting Dean’s Forum meeting will be held. Please prepare your scientific material and educational presentations for the forthcoming meeting.
